This document uses an example of the dating of a terrestrial Cretaceous–Paleogene boundary section and dating of the Deccan Traps Large Igneous Province, going through each of the steps outlined in Chapter 14. For each step there is a discussion of the work carried out and key considerations. Several key references published in the past decade, using state of the art methods (U–Pb and 40Ar/39Ar), are used as the basis for discussion. This document also presents summary information on online geochronology tools.
